The School Council run P6 and P7 'Cake Break' was a roaring success. Much cake was eaten and enjoyed and they raised a fantastic £190 for their chosen charities. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed the delicious sweet treats. Special mention goes to Ella, Leah, Betty and Hollie who made beautiful bracelets and sold them on Friday too. Special mention also to Joshua, our budding documentary photographer, for his great photography skills! More fundraising activities will come in the second week of June!
P7 enjoying games, treats and gardening.
P7 having fun in Holywood
P7 have been so busy. They helped R3 with their ICT work, enjoyed cricket in the sunshine and have been designing fabulous posters. As a special treat they went into Holywood for a picnic and an ice lolly. It’s great fun to play in Jonny the Jig during the day when no-one else is around!
P7 hoodies have arrived!
There was much excitement across P7 today as the pupils’ hoodies were handed out. The pupils are loving their new hoodies.
A big thank you to Mrs Boyd and the PTA for helping to organise and order them. We are sure you’ll agree the pupils all look very smart in their new attire!
Sport Changes Life
P7 had a great time taking part in the Sport Changes Life programme. They, along with the P7s from Glencraig, went to Queen’s Leisure Centre for a festival day of sport and activities.
Concern Worldwide Book Sale
Pupils from all classes had a fantastic time looking through the books provided by Concern Worldwide. Thanks to our fabulous P7’s for reading to some of our younger children and suggesting book titles. It was wonderful to be able to welcome parents to buy books after school. There was such a buzz around the hall.
Supporting Concern Worldwide
We love reading books! When we get pre-loved books from Concern Worldwide bookshops we support a local charity and help the environment.
Children's Mental Health Week
The pupils enjoyed wearing colourful clothes to raise money for Place2Be and celebrate the end of Children’s Mental Health Week!
P7s step back in time to the Victorian Era

Coastal Schools Programme
As part of Holywood Primary’s new Eco topic ‘Marine Life’, P7 enjoyed taking part in a Coastal Schools workshop from Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. P7 learned lots about marine life and took part in a beach audit, at Seapark, to find out how much rubbish was there. They were disappointed that they were able to find so much litter in our local area but enjoyed the beautiful weather and picnic by the sea!
Busy week for some of our P7 pupils!
Some of our P7 pupils have been very productive this week. They have been planting and weeding in the school garden, doing lots of creative activities and even had time to go into Holywood for a special treat!
To quote one of the children, this has been the ‘best time ever’!
P7 Trip to Mount Stewart
P7 enjoyed an informative trip to Mount Stewart on Monday where they heard all about the life and legacy of Lord Castlereagh. They also found out abou the different roles that people used to have run the house and had the opportunity to use old fashioned fountain pens with ink pots. The pupils represented HPS brilliantly and asked lots of well thought out questions to further their knowledge. Well done P7!
Hockey Blitz
Ten P7 pupils enjoyed a morning playing hockey at the Ards and North Down Borough Council Hockey Blitz.
The team performed so well and won five out of the six matches they played. Each player worked incredibly hard, and showed great sportsmanship throughout the blitz. They were all absolutely delighted with their well-deserved medals too!
A huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who helped with lifts and came along to support the team, it was much appreciated!
Visit from Quinnipiac University
P7 pupils enjoyed meeting Quinnipiac University’s ice hockey team. We told them all about Holywood Primary School and the sports we play here and the team spoke about ice hockey and taught the pupils some new skills. The pupils asked lots of interesting questions and loved meeting the players!
